10-Day Best of Rwanda and Tanzania Safaris: Given only about 1,000 mountain gorillas left in their native environment, travelling through the Virunga Mountains and spending an hour in their company is a moving and unique experience. Although this itinerary is only four nights long, it is ideal for people who want to combine Rwanda’s gorillas with another African trip.

After seeing the wonders of Rwanda, you will travel directly from Kigali to the Serengeti National Park. The following week will be spent on safari in two of Tanzania’s most famous national parks. The Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater are magnificent landscapes home to diverse species and fauna. Flying aboard Cessna Caravan planes throughout the country, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking perspective of the Rift Valley.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport, After your long-distance flight, spend the night unwinding.

You are scheduled to arrive at Kigali International Airport, be received by our driver, and be transferred to your hotel for a moment of relaxation after your travel. Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, is widely regarded as the cleanest and nicest city in Africa. Considering the civil war and horrific events that occurred here only thirty years ago, the people of Rwanda are extremely friendly and inviting. When you arrive in Kigali, you will be greeted by big and passionate smiles. We may arrange private and guided tours of Kigali for individuals who have a day in the city to see galleries and museums.

Days 2–4: Volcanoes National Park gorilla trekking and local cultural immersion

The hotel will serve breakfast this morning before departing for Volcanoes National Park. You will have your own private vehicle and guide while exploring Rwanda’s stunning terraced hillsides and gorgeous countryside. You’ll be immersed in the Virunga Mountains for hours, with large and famous mountain peaks visible. You’ll drive to Sabyinyo Silverback Resort, where you’ll spend the day relaxing and admiring the breathtaking views from the resort, your room, and your private veranda. Enjoy dinner at the lodge and a warm greeting from the staff and team before retiring for the night in preparation for your early start the next morning.

On day two, after a great breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters in Volcanoes National Park for a safety briefing. You will then be divided into smaller groups of no more than six people each, where you will meet your guide and ranger. Then you’ll begin your trek through the bush, searching for a habituated gorilla family. Once you’ve located the gorilla family, you’ll get an hour with them to observe and photograph this fascinating animal. You will experience two days of gorilla tracking, with each trek seeing a different gorilla family. After each gorilla hike, you’ll return to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge to unwind, enjoy dinner, and enjoy the forest’s peace.

Days 5–7: Fly from Kigali to the Serengeti National Park’s plains in northern Tanzania for game drives

After two days of gorilla tracking, you’ll drive back to Kigali before flying to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. You’ll be guided through customs before landing on your bush airstrip in the Serengeti. The next three nights will be spent on safari, with morning and afternoon wildlife drives in open-sided jeeps. Depending on the season, you’ll be staying in the Serengeti’s northern, eastern, or southern plains to maximize your chances of seeing the wildebeest migration herds.

Days 8–11: Fly from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater for three nights

You’ll take a light aircraft plane from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll spend the next three nights at the stunning Ngorongoro Highlands Lodge. During your stay, you’ll go on a game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater, as well as participate in cultural tours and visits, treks, and guided walks around the crater. On the final day, you will fly from Manyara to Kilimanjaro airport to catch your international trip home.
