Detailed Itinerary: 8 day Luxury Kenya Safari

Day1: Arrival at  Nairobi International Airport

Following your initial welcome and greeting from our representative, you will be taken to the comfortable Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi, or a comparable place, where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, you will drive to Samburu National Reserve. You will have lunch at Trout Tree Restaurant, a unique eating experience centred around a massive fig tree. Your lodging, Samburu Sopa Lodge, is situated on a hill inside the reserve with expansive views and accommodations housed in traditional Samburu cottages. You’ll have an afternoon game drive to get there from the dry landscape of Samburu. It will take approximately 6 hours to complete the journey.

Day 3: Full-Day Samburu National Reserve Game Drive

Along with enjoying afternoon wildlife drives, your group will depart for Samburu National Reserve in the morning. The dry topography of this relatively tiny reserve, less frequented than its more southerly neighbours, is home to unique dry country creatures not often seen outside the park.

Its distinctive five are the long-necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, and reticulated giraffe. Samburu Sopa Lodge will be the place of stay.

Day 4: Transfer from Samburu  to Aberdare National Park

The Aberdare Mountain Range will be reached by car in the south of Kenya. In 1950, the forested slopes of the old Aberdare Range, home to various animals including lions, elephants, and the striking but less seen bongo, a horned antelope with distinguishing white stripes, were designated as the Aberdare National Park.

You will lodge in the well-known Ark Lodge, where Princess Elizabeth stayed the night before taking the throne in 1952, which boasts an amazing viewing platform. The waterholes and salt licks surrounding this distinctive lodge draw in the game.

Day 5: Transfer from Aberdare National Park to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast at Treetops, you will travel to Lake Nakuru National Park for lunch and a wildlife drive, passing by Thomson’s Falls, a magnificent waterfall on the Uaso Nyiro River. With over 400 different bird species, the park is a sanctuary for avian enthusiasts and serves as home to Rothschild giraffes, lions, and leopards. It also provides excellent opportunities to see herds of white rhinos.

After that, you’ll go to Lake Naivasha, where you’ll spend the night at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge, home to hippos, giraffes, and monkeys on its 150-acre grasslands. 3 hours is the estimated travel time. The lodging will be at Sopa Lodge on Lake Naivasha.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve to Lake Naivasha

Following breakfast, you will depart for the Maasai Mara, which is home to the cast members of the BBC series “Big Cat Diary” as well as an abundance of other animals such as buffalo, giraffes, hyenas, elephants, and wildebeests among its vast savannah and rolling grasslands. Your 1962-era lodge will welcome you for lunch before you go on an afternoon game drive and return for dinner.

With its expansive lawns, charming Riverstone, and cedar wood cottages, Keekorok is ideally situated in the centre of the Mara. The land is unfenced, so buffalo and elephants frequently roam about it. You can unwind with other visitors in the lounge throughout the evening over the crackling log fire.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve Game Drive

Even though it’s the last day of your safari, it might be the most exciting because you can take a hot-air balloon safari today to see Maasai Mara from a completely different angle (additional cost). In Kenya, this is the most highly suggested optional activity.

You’ll watch while the balloon is prepared and wake up earlier. Then, when the sun rises, you’ll lift off and ascend. The huge savannah and the animals roaming below you are visible for kilometers in the vivid pink-orange haze.

A perfect conclusion to an exhilarating safari will be afternoon game drives into the centre of this wildlife-rich reserve, which you will experience early in the morning.

Day 8: Transfer from Maasai Mara to Nairobi city

You will depart the Mara after breakfast and arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch, following your final game viewing. Five hours is the estimated travel time. You will be dropped off at the hotel or airport to go to your next location.
