Day 2: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, our safari guide will meet us at our accommodation, and we will make our way to Lake Manyara National Park. Although relatively small, this park is incredibly diverse, with a shallow salt lake that covers a large part of its surface area. This lake is home to thousands of flamingos and around 500 other bird species. We will also have the opportunity to see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, if we’re lucky, lions lounging in the trees. The park is famous for its various landscapes, including open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs.

After an extensive game drive through the park, we will head to our carefully selected campsite, where we can relax, dine, and rest in pleasant surroundings.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we will journey through the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people grow wheat, coffee, and corn. As we pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we will have the opportunity to see the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before continuing to Serengeti National Park, which we will reach by midday. The Serengeti National Park is the largest in Tanzania and offers diverse landscapes and habitats such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. Depending on the season, we may have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals, including the great wildebeest and zebra migration, in their search for food and water.

After our extensive game drive, we will head to our campsite, where we can unwind, have dinner, and relax by a fire under the endless African sky.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

We have set aside this entire day for further game drives in the park. The Serengeti is the habitat for an abundance of wildlife, such as impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos, but is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebras and wildebeests. The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. We may also have the chance to spot predators such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions lurking close by. After our full day on the plains, we will return to our campsite for a well-deserved rest, encased in our comfortable sleeping bags, dreaming of wild cats!

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

This is our final full day in the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Today, we will continue to explore and enjoy the wide range of animals and birds in the park. By now, you should be familiar with the wildlife, but don’t hesitate to ask your guide to take you to the locations that you most desire.

We spent our last night sleeping out on the plain, keeping watch for the passing wildlife. Fortunately, the animals had little interest in us, and we were able to enjoy a peaceful night. Tomorrow, we will spend the night on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands

After an early breakfast, we will embark on another game drive in the Serengeti. We may be lucky enough to spot the “Big”Five”—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely through the unfenced reserves, allowing us to enjoy an uninterrupted game-viewing experience.

Upon reaching the edge of the crater, we will catch our first glimpse of what awaits us the following day – glistening streams, open grassland, and a myriad of animals. We will spend the night at the Simba Campsite on the crater’s edge, with the orange glow of the sunset surrounding us as we drift off to sleep.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

Early risers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the rising sun over the crater’s edge. After a hearty breakfast, we will drive down the adventurous track into the crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, formed millions of years ago in the massive explosion of a volcano, is 610 meters deep and covers roughly 260 square kilometers.

Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000 ungulates, the crater offers the best game-viewing experience in all of Tanzania. In just a few minutes, we will see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, elephant, and some of the more than 500 bird species that inhabit the crater. With a little luck, we may even catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass.

After lunch, we will ascend the steep walls of the crater and head onward to our lodgings in Karatu. Dinner awaits us at the Lilac Campsite (or Panorama Campsite) in a pretty and relaxing setting, where our tents will be set up for us to rest and dream of wild cats!

Day 8: Tarangire to Arusha

After breakfast, we will head to our final destination on this epic safari – Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is well-known for its large elephant herds, seasonal swamps, savannah, and the Tarangire River, which winds its way through the park, inviting wildlife to drink its soothing waters.

From the open roof of our state-of-the-art safari truck, we will experience the landscape as we seek sightings of the many animals, including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, and giraffe. We may also catch a glimpse of a lion stalking its prey or a leopard relaxing in the trees above.

After extensive game drives through the park, our adventure will come to a close, and we will head back to Arusha with unforgettable memories of the African wild.
