The 2-Day Volcanoes Expedition in Rwanda includes a visit to the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda’s culture and traditions, as well as a gorilla trekking expedition to watch the amazing primates in their natural habitat.
Day1: Transfer to the Volcanoes Day 2: Gorilla Trekking at the Volcanoes and drop-off at Kigali
Detailed Itinerary
Day1: Transfer to the Volcanoes
Kigali Convention Centre, Kigali – Rwanda
Our guide or company official will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali (or from the airport if you arrive early in the morning). You will then embark on a half-day city trip to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the genocide museum, or any local site you prefer in Rwanda’s capital. Before travelling to Musanze, you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant before arriving in the afternoon for a 1-hour adventure at Ibyiwacu Culture Village, just before retiring to the lodge for dinner and an entire night.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking at the Volcanoes and drop-off at Kigali
Gorilla Trekking, Volcanoes National Park
After a 6:00 am breakfast, you will be transported to the park’s administrative centre in Kinigi with your packed lunch. There, a ranger will brief you on the policies and procedures for mountain gorilla tracking before you set out into the jungle in search of these gentle giants. The length of the gorilla hike depends on the gorillas’ movements and might range from one hour to six hours. Even if the travel is challenging, the payoff is enormous. You will get an hour with the gorilla to shoot as many photos as you like. After you’ve finished your hike, have a late lunch at one of the neighbourhood eateries before returning to Kigali by car. We’ll drop you off at your hotel or airport.
