3 Day Gorilla Trek and Dian Fossey Safari


This 3 Day Gorilla Trek and Dian Fossey Safari is a 2-night Rwandan gorilla trekking safari that includes a walk to the famous primatologist Dian Fossey’s grave. Fossey was killed by poachers in the park while trying to protect mountain gorillas.

Visiting her grave not only provides an excellent hiking experience but also an opportunity to learn about Mountain Gorilla conservation. She was buried within Volcanoes National Park as she wanted to, just close to the grave of her favourite gorilla.
The tour is favourable for tourists who are coming in with international flights to the country or those coming from neighbouring countries.

Detailed Itinerary: 3 Day Gorilla Trek and Dian Fossey Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

After you arrive at Kigali International Airport or are picked up from your hotel or place of residence, your 3-day Rwanda Gorilla Safari will begin. Following your introductions, you make your way to Volcanoes National Park via car.
A brief Kigali city tour may include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in addition to a few other historical and traditional sights, depending on when you arrive. Following the city tour, you eat lunch before starting your drive to Volcanoes National Park, which is located to the northwest of Rwanda. You will travel straight to the park if you are arriving by automobile from one of the nearby nations. With Rwanda’s thousands of hills providing a magnificent backdrop, the two-hour drive passes quickly. You get to the park around nightfall and get into a reserved hotel.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trek at Volcanoes National Park

Your designated driver-guide will take you up for a journey to the Volcanoes Park headquarters on day two, following breakfast at your accommodation. When you arrive at the park headquarters, park rangers will instruct you on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You are given a gorilla family to track with seven other people and park guides after the briefing. From the park headquarters, you can search for mountain gorillas by trekking through the bamboo forest.
It can take anywhere from two to four hours to go gorilla trekking, depending on where the gorillas slept the night before. But you can only spend an hour (sixty minutes) with the mountain gorillas.
Following an hour-long encounter with a gorilla family, you return to the park headquarters, where you meet your tour guide and are driven to your hotel or lodge, where you may unwind and spend the night in the same location as the previous day.

Day 3: Hike to Dian Fossey’s tomb and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight home.

Get up early, get breakfast at the hotel, and get ready to walk to the tomb of Dian Fossey. the trail-based walk to the Dian Fossey tomb for a memorial service. This is a two-hour excursion that honours Dian Fossey, the first primate researcher to concentrate on mountain gorillas. Her writings serve as the cornerstone for both national conservation initiatives and the prospect of mountain gorilla trekking.
Following the hike, you head back to the park headquarters to catch a transfer to the airport in Kigali, where your flight departs.
