Detailed Itinerary: 4 Day Gorilla and Dian Fossey Safari

Day1: Arrival and transfer to the Volcanoes National Park

On the first day of your four-day safari in Rwanda, which includes the Dian Fossey hike and gorilla trekking, you will be picked up and driven to Volcanoes National Park, where our company’s safari guides will greet you. You will drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in the evening to check into your lodge, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 2: Trekking with mountain gorillas 

The exciting mountain gorilla trekking experience on the second day of the Rwanda safari begins early in the morning. After breakfast, you will depart your lodge and go to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing. After giving you a briefing, a ranger will go over the dos and don’ts of this trip. You will then be paired with a mountain gorilla group trek, and you will proceed into the forests to find mountain gorillas. You will go back to the headquarters and then return to your resort after spending an hour in the mountains snapping pictures and learning more about the mountain gorillas. You will spend the night and dine at your lodge.

Day 3: Cultural trip and walk along Dian Fossey

After an early breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your journey into the forests of Volcanoes National Park, which leads to Dian Fossey’s graveyard. This is the third day of your four-day Rwanda hike safari. Unfortunately, Dian Fossey conducted a great deal of research on mountain gorillas as part of her role as a conservationist. Sadly, she was murdered by guys she could not identify, who were thought to be poachers that she was battling. You will walk back to the headquarters and then proceed to your cabin for lunch. She was buried in the middle of the forest, and you will get to see her grave during this trip. You will embark on a cultural tour of the surrounding communities in the afternoon. You will see the traditional garb worn by the Kinyarwanda, take in traditional dances and music, and engage in a host of other activities. You will eat dinner and spend the night at your lodge in the evening.

Day 4: Return to Kigali by transfer

On the fourth day of your 4 Day Gorilla and Dian Fossey Safari in Rwanda, you must return to Kigali for drop-off the following morning. You will be dropped off in Kigali at the international airport for your journey home or at the hotel where you are staying.
