Shoebill Stork Bird Watching Tour at Mabamba Swamp
One-Day Itinerary
The shoebill, also called the whalebill, whale-headed stork, or shoe-billed stork, is a big, long-legged wading bird. Its name comes from the large, shoe-shaped bill. It’s great before or after a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, or before or after a flight from Entebbe Airport. The tour begins and ends in Entebbe, but there are options to start and end in other locations, like Kampala, Wakiso, and Masaka, to name a few.
Detailed Itinerary: Shoebill Stork Bird Watching Tour at Mabamba Swamp
Day 1: Transfer to Mamamba Swamp and tour experience
After breakfast, transfer to Nakiwogo for a boat to Kasanje or a loop via Kawuku to Mabamba Swamp for a Shoebill Stock Tour. The tour includes peddling and walking the shoebill stock. It’s secretive, but Mabamba Wetlands is renowned for being one of the best places to watch shoebills in their natural habitat. After the shoebill stock trekking and birdwatching expedition, return to Entebbe, marking the end of the trip.
