Detailed Itinerary: 7-Day Best of Tanzania Safari Package

Day 1: Arrival at the airport.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up by your driver guide, who will take you through your travel plan and then transfer you to Arusha National Park, the closest national park to Arusha town. Our guide will take you to your accommodation facility for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive in Arusha National Park

After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge with a packed lunch for the game drive. The entrance gate will lead you to a shadowy Montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and coloured turacos. The place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black and white colobus monkey is easily seen. Passing first through the wooden savannah, you will encounter several buffaloes, giraffes and zebras.

Although elephants are not common in this park, in the absence of lions, you will be able to spot leopards and spotted hyenas, usually in the morning and afternoon. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel, and before departure, your guide will brief you about the whole safari. Afterwards, you will start your drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This park stretches along the high rift valley escarpments, which are occupied by a highly alkaline lake. Water birds gather around the lake, and there are over 400 species found in this park. Its vegetation provides a good habitat for many animals, like monkeys, antelopes, and giraffes, among others.

You will get a chance to view the Manyara lions around the trees. In the afternoon, leave Manyara and head to your lodge.

Day 4: Game drive in Lake Manyara National Park

After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge for a game drive with a packed lunch. Game viewing through Manyara will offer you a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience. Through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest, you will meet hundred-strong baboon troops lounging nonchalantly along the roadside and blue monkeys. You will see large buffalo, wild beasts and zebra herds congregating on these grassy plains. You will also be able to see Lake Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Late in the evening, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Serengeti National Park

Early in the morning, at around 6:00 am, you will be picked up from your hotel and depart for Serengeti with an en-route game drive via Nabi Hill Road, where your driver will pay park entrance fees while you enjoy your lunch box.

You will arrive in Serengeti in the afternoon, and upon arrival, you will enjoy your game drive in the heart of Serengeti National Park. You will be able to see lions, giraffes, impalas, cheetahs, and zebras, among others. At sunset, you will approach your accommodation facility for a shower, a hot dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Game Drive—Serengeti National Park.

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver guide for game viewing along the Sogore River circuit, which enters the Seronera River, and it’s a good spot to view the lions, topis, ostrich and cheetahs.

After a game drive full of adventure, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then relax at the poolside as you wait for your dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Julius Nyerere International Airport for your flight back home.
