Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Batwa Community Trail
Begin your journey with a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 7 hours from Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Along the way, you’ll traverse diverse landscapes, from tropical rainforests to savannah fields, and pass through the picturesque terraced hills of Kigezi, often referred to as the Switzerland of East Africa. Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in at the lodge before embarking on the Batwa Community Trail, where you’ll learn about the fascinating culture of these forest pygmies. After a briefing with experienced local guides and trackers, venture into the forest to track down these magnificent creatures. The trek may vary in duration, ranging from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family and the altitude, which can exceed 7500 feet. Despite the challenging terrain, the breathtaking beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trek immensely rewarding. Be sure to bring plenty of water, cameras, waterproof clothing, and other essentials for the trek. Later, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a tranquil canoe ride.
