Day 1: Murchison Falls Exploration and Boat Cruise

We commence our journey from Kampala, driving through Luwero and Nakasongola en route to Murchison Falls National Park, with a lunch stop in Masindi before entering the park. Upon arrival, our first stop is at the apex of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River cascades fiercely through a narrow crevice in the Rift Valley escarpment, plunging into the depths below. Here, we’ll have ample time to capture photographs before descending to the river for a scenic boat cruise. This cruise offers close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and a plethora of bird species.

Day 2: Morning and Evening Land Game Drives

An early start at 6:30 am sees us embarking on a thrilling game drive within the park. Wildlife populations, rebounding from the poaching era of the 1980s, thrive in the lush Borassus grasslands north of the Nile. Expect sightings of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, various antelope species, and increasingly frequent encounters with lions. After returning to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, we ventured out again in the evening for another game drive, focusing on spotting the park’s iconic predators, like lions.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest

Rising early, we enjoy breakfast before catching the first ferry for a morning chimpanzee trekking expedition in Budongo Forest. Renowned for its rich biodiversity and historic mahogany trees, Budongo Forest offers exceptional birding opportunities and affordable chimpanzee tracking experiences lasting 2 to 4 hours. Following the hike, we journey to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for lunch and check-in at our lodge. Guests can unwind with leisurely activities or an evening stroll in preparation for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: Rhino Trekking at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Our final day begins with an early breakfast at the sanctuary, the sole location in Uganda to observe wild rhinos. A unique opportunity awaits as we spend 1 to 2 hours observing these magnificent yet endangered creatures in their natural habitat. After the rhino encounter, we commence our journey back to Kampala, keeping a keen eye out for additional wildlife sightings such as oribis, bushbucks, and Uganda kobs within the sanctuary. We aim to depart early enough to reach Kampala or Entebbe airport for your onward flight.
