Detailed Itinerary: 6 Day Uganda Wildlife and Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport & transfer to Lake Mburo

Welcome to Uganda! As soon as you land at the airport, our friendly driver guide will be there to warmly welcome you and get you started on your exciting adventure. He will then transfer you to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s most miniature savannah national park. It was upgraded to a national park in 1983, and it is home to 332 bird species and animals like buffaloes, oribis, kobs, warthogs, and zebras, among others.

Upon arrival at the park, you will check in at the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

In the morning, you will have breakfast at your lodge and thereafter set out for the game drive through the park, where your eyes will be fed with amazing sights and wildlife such as impalas, kobs, antelopes, and bird species.

Lake Mburo has a variety of antelopes, including topi, duiker, oribis, reedbuck, and klipspringer, and the Rothschild giraffe has recently been reintroduced. However, the heights of the park have to be the Burchells zebra and eland, which are only found in two national parks in Uganda.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for relaxation while waiting for lunch. After lunch, you will set out for an unforgettable experience on the boat cruise along the lake. Still, a lot of animals will be seen, like crocodiles and hippos, among others, and then, after the boat cruise, you will head back to the lodge. The boat cruise can be done at dawn or dusk, depending on your safari itinerary, and normally it takes around 2 hours.

All rides begin at Rwonyo Jetty; it will not take you long before you begin to see large groups of crocodiles and buffaloes lining the banks of the lake. The lake is also famous for its bird life, majestic fish eagles, and colourful kingfishers. If you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the rare shoebill storks.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge with the help of your guide and continue westward, leaving Lake Mburo and heading towards Bwindi, home of the heavyweights. You will have lunch at the lodge upon arrival, and in the evening, you could go for a guided nature walk or a community visit.
