Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

Welcome to Uganda! As soon as you land at the airport, our friendly driver guide will be there to warmly welcome you and get you started on your exciting adventure. He will take you through the itinerary and answer any questions you may have. After that, he will take you to your hotel in Kampala, where you can unwind and soak up the atmosphere.

Your driver guide will be with you for the entire safari and will gladly help you with any questions or needs. Please pay attention to the driver when he briefs you. Entebbe is the gateway to Uganda, offering a range of accommodation options for travellers embarking on a safari. Overall, several accommodation options are available in Entebbe, and the choice depends on your budget, travel preferences, and an itinerary designed by our travel expert.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park was named after Queen Elizabeth the Second and has various animal species, including impalas, kobs, forest hogs, elephants, buffaloes, tree-climbing lions, and cape buffaloes. This national park is also filled with volcanic calderas that harbour many flamingos in several seasons. Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth, you will have lunch and then do the afternoon set out for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, where you will see various animals like crocodiles, hippos, water bucks, buffaloes, and birds like storks and kingfishers, among others.

Day 3: Game drive- Queen Elizabeth National Park

Arise early enough, and after breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive where you will see various animals like elephants, elands, antelopes, buffaloes, and lions, among others. After having your lunch at the lodge, you will transfer to Ishasha to see the famous tree-climbing lions, which can only be sighted at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Ishasha sector. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Kibale Forest National Park. You will enjoy an impressive sight of the legendary “mountains of the moon,” which you will see on the road to Fort Portal. You will also pass through many traditional villages as you enjoy the local people carrying out agriculture. This forest is mainly famous for around 13 primate species, with chimpanzees being the most commonly tracked. The other primate species include golden monkeys and black and white colobus monkeys, as well as bird species. On arrival at the park, you will check into your lodge and then proceed to visit the scenic crater lakes and the terraced tea plantations around the hill of Fort Portal. This Crater Lake sits on Lake Nyinambuga, where tourists can take a walk as they enjoy the cool breeze of this lake. After, return to the lodge to enjoy lunch as you relax and wait for your dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland visit

Wake up so early and head to Kanyanchu by 8:00 am to start your chimpanzee trek in the Kibale forest. As you proceed with the search for these beautiful chimps, you will see many other primate and animal species, including the LHoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, bush babies, and many bird species, including the yellow-spotted nictor, ramped tinker, and crowed eagle. This national park is an average of 3,300 feet in elevation, and it’s a rainforest with many chimpanzee communities. Each troop of these chimpanzees has over 100 individuals, which is a competitive social structure. In their groups, the adult males dominate the group and always defend the whole community against any danger or incursions by the females from outside. You get a chance to observe them as they play, feed, socialize, and jump around the trees. Immediately after the long trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch as you prepare to visit the Bigodi wetland sanctuary.

Day 6: Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport

After a good night’s sleep at your lodge, it will be time for your final transfer from Kibale Forest National Park to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. We truly hope that you have a memorable experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

Here are some tips and guidelines to keep in mind when embarking on a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:

  1. Consider hiring a porter to carry your pack up steep inclines. This not only supports sustainable employment in the community but can also be a great help.
  2. Show respect to the gorillas by remaining silent and submissive when in their presence. Follow your guide’s instructions calmly and the gorillas will likely be unperturbed by your presence.
  3. Ensure that you bring enough water and snacks, as treks can take several hours. While accommodations usually provide these, it may be worthwhile to bring your energy treats.
  4. Consider booking the gorilla habituation experience in advance. This allows you to spend up to four hours with researchers and Uganda Wildlife Authority as they follow a gorilla family group and get to know the dynamics.
  5. For photographers, consider using a mid-zoom lens such as a 24-70mm, as long lenses can be heavy and impractical. Flash photography is not allowed, and keeping your camera in a waterproof bag can protect it from the elements.
  6. If you find the terrain too challenging, consider booking a local stretcher or sedan chair in advance at an additional cost.
  7. Don’t forget to charge your battery before setting out.
