Day 2: A visit to Mabamba Swamp, a 1.5-hour trip from Entebbe Town

Day 3: Birding in Mabamba Swamp during Ugandan Birding and Wildlife Safari

Today is all about those mysterious shoebill storks. You will visit the Mabamba Swamp in the early morning and late afternoon to have the best chance of seeing some of the breeding couples that live there. Furthermore, while you glide gently along the canals, you will have the opportunity to witness a variety of bird species, including the malachite kingfisher, blue-breasted bee-eater, and rare shoebills.

Day 4: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

This diversified park has a lot to offer bird watchers, with forests, plains, wetlands, and rivers to cover. This afternoon, you will have a game drive through the park to see what you can find. You stay on the Nile’s banks.

Day 5: Birding at the Golden Mile during the Ugandan Birding and Wildlife Safari

You’ll drive into the Budongo Forest to go bird-watching along the famous Royal Mile. Royal Mile is a pleasant, easy woodland walk with excellent birding opportunities, making it ideal for anybody interested in nature or simply wanting to appreciate the forest. The Budongo Forest Reserve is one of Uganda’s most important birding locations, located on the escarpment northeast of the magnificent Lake Albert. There are two endemic species here: Pitta reichenowi and Parmoptila woodhouse.

Day 6: A morning boat trip and game drive

On your final day, you can explore the waters at a slower pace. You’ll start with a morning boat cruise down to the delta, followed by an evening game drive to see more of the park.
Expect to encounter elephants, hippos, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, and possibly some of the more elusive species like lions or leopards.

Day 7: Drive to Semliki National Park during the Ugandan Birding and Wildlife Safari

This location is a magnificent haven for birdwatchers, situated amidst the mountains and the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The park is known for the Ituri Forest, which is the easternmost extension of the vast Congo Basin. This is one of the oldest and most diverse forests in Africa, and it is one of the few that survived the last ice age that took place 12–18,000 years ago.

Day 8: Birdwatching in Semliki’s lush woodlands

This ecologically diversified region also houses over 120 mammals, including many primate species like baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. This forest hosts over 350 bird species, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics. This afternoon, visit Sempaya Male Hot Springs. While Semuliki’s species have been accumulating for over 25,000 years, the park also has evidence of even earlier processes. Hot springs erupt from the depths, demonstrating the strong underlying forces that have shaped the rift valley over the previous 14 million years.

Day 9: Game Drive and Transfer to Kibale National Park

You’ll do your final game drive in Semliki National Park before driving to Kibale Forest National Park for your stay.

Day 10: Chimp Trekking and Birdwatching during the Ugandan Birding and Wildlife Safari

Tour the dense forest with a visit to Kanyanchu, where you’ll see and hear happy greenbuls and whinchats, as well as birds of prey like the western banded snake eagle and the lizard buzzard. Then you’ll go on a trip to monitor chimpanzee troops in Kibale’s upper branches, keeping an eye out for other primates, including colobus and red-tailed monkeys.

Day 11: Transfer Queen Elizabeth National Park

You must head straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park to encounter Uganda’s wildlife at its best. Engage in thrilling game drives to witness the beauty of the country’s magnificent birds and mighty large mammals, such as elephants, leopards, and lions.

You’ll stay in the center of the park at Mweya Safari Lodge, which has amazing views of the Kazinga Channel and an infinity pool.
This afternoon, tour the Kazinga Channel, which is home to yellow-billed storks, African spoonbills, and pelicans, among other birds. Take a boat safari across the channel to observe buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos, or fly in a hot air balloon to get a “bird’s eye view” of the park.

Day 12: Drive to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 13–Day 14: Gorilla Trekking and Birding in Bwindi

This is the big day! You will go gorilla trekking in the famous Bwindi Forest. There is a maximum of eight people per group, and your trip can last anywhere from one to six hours, depending on where the gorillas slept the night before. During your hike, you will likely spot several birds and other monkeys.
On day 14, you will concentrate on Bwindi’s birdwatching options. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to approximately 360 bird species, including cuckoo shrikes, fork-tailed drongos, martial eagles, pink-footed puffbacks, white-headed woodhoopoes, and tinkerbirds.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Zebra, warthogs, and impala may be seen gathering at a nearby watering hole.

Day 16: Travel back to Entebbe for your flight
