Uganda Bird Watching Safaris & Tours: Uganda, despite not having a coastline, is considered one of the prime birdwatching destinations in Africa. More than 1060 bird species call Uganda their home, making it known as the “birders’ haven.” The country has diverse ecosystems that change rapidly over short distances. One of the most popular bird species in Uganda is the shoebill-Mabamba, which can be found in the woodlands and savannas of the Albertine Rift along the western safari route.
The country hosts approximately 50% of Africa’s bird species and 11% of the world’s total. In Uganda, there are more than 1,070 confirmed bird species, with several of them being endemic to the region. Uganda’s endemic bird, the Fox’s Weaver, is solely found in the eastern part of the country, specifically in the wetland marshes of Kumi and Soroti districts.
